    Learn the secret to achieving a flawless natural makeup look in 5 minutes or less! I share my top tips and tricks for your most glowing complexion yet using my favourite products.

    One of the most common questions I get asked is about my 5-minute makeup routine. This is my daily makeup routine that can be completed in 5 minutes and is actually good for your skin!

    I choose natural and eco-friendly products that deliver high-performance results. After suffering with acne for years and years, I finally learnt how to use makeup that was good for my skin but still gave me the coverage I wanted.

    The best thing about mineral powder foundation is it is sweat-proof and lasts all day long. This is a must-have for anyone who is leading a busy lifestyle or is a mom!

    Here are the exact steps I take to do my makeup in 5-minutes or less!

    Step 1: Apply mineral powder foundation

    I’ve literally tried countless foundations over the years. Everything from drug store to department store and everything in between.

    If there’s one thing I’ve learnt about skin, particularly acne-prone skin – it’s that it LOVES a powder foundation over a liquid foundation.

    When cosmetic companies make a liquid foundation, they are forced to add preservatives into the product as it contains water. The beauty of a powder is – there’s no liquid which means no preservatives and no expiry dates!

    Using an earth mineral on your skin is the best thing for it, and it also contains a low SPF protection to shield you from free-radical damage.

    How to apply it:

    The best way to apply a mineral powder foundation is to tap some product into the lid of the foundation jar and swirl your kabuki brush into it.

    Tap off the excess powder on the side of your lid and then gently apply to your face in a circular buffing motion. Repeat until your entire face has been coated in the powder.

    A good quality powder foundation will give you medium-high coverage as you build the product up on your skin and will look flawlessly airbrushed.

    Time: 2 minutes

    Step 2: Contour your cheeks using bronzer

    Contouring your cheeks with bronzer is the key to a finished natural makeup look. I use a bronzer brush to swirl a small amount of product and gently swish the brush on my wrist to get rid of any excess.

    It’s important to do this so you don’t apply too much bronzer to your face and create a ‘muddy’ look. Once you have tapped off the excess, suck in your cheeks and gently use the brush to sweep under your cheekbones.

    You can also repeat the process and sweep the brush around your hairline and down either side of your nose to contour.

    TIP: Bronzer is my go-to makeup product when I’m opting for a natural look. I just use my kabuki brush to apply a small amount of product to my face all over and buff in. This gives a super sun-kissed look that’s perfect for during the day!

    Time: 1 minute

    Step 3: Define your eyebrows

    HOT TIP – if you have never tinted your brows before, I highly recommend doing this. It gives you a really nice defined look and will help with cutting down your makeup routine as it gives you a better outline of your brows.

    The first thing I do is use a slightly damp cotton tip to remove any powder foundation from my brows. I then take a spoolie and brush my brows to get them into position before I apply the product.

    I’ve tried pencils, crayons, pomade’s and more over the years but I keep coming back to this brow cushion with inbuilt spoolie and application brush.

    Simply press the brush end into the cushion gently and fill in the brow with gentle strokes upwards. You can line the edges with the darker shade and the fill in with the lighter shade to give a feather brow effect.

    TIP: Avoid applying moisturiser to your eyebrows as it will stop your makeup being long-lasting.

    Time: 1 minute

    Step 4: Apply mascara for long lashes

    Not everyone is born with long lashes, but thankfully there are lots of good products out there to make them look long and luscious.

    I’ll be honest, finding a good mascara is like finding a needle in a haystack. It’s also very much a personal preference thing.

    Personally – I LOVE long and defined lashes as opposed to thick and dramatic. The key to applying mascara properly is to start at the base of your lashes closer to your eyelid and gently zig-zag the brush through lashes to the end.

    This technique builds thickness and helps the mascara wand to define your lashes.

    TIP: Don’t pump the mascara wand in and out of the container as this pumps air into the product and will dry it out faster.

    Time: 1 minute

    Remember that a good skincare routine is the key to flawless looking makeup. If you get your base right, then the rest of your makeup will look glowing.

    As a busy mum, I’m constantly on the hunt for amazing baby products that save time and make mum life easy. Here are some of my favourite finds that help save your sleep, win back some time and are environmentally friendly! 

    1. Cocoonababy Baby Mattress

    This baby mattress will give you a good night’s sleep with your newborn and help ease any reflux or colic symptoms!

    I’ve been using this since getting Archer home from the hospital and I have to say this is the BEST purchase you can make as a new mum. I didn’t have the luxury of a Cocoonababy with Henry, and I have noticed a huge difference when it comes to overnight sleeps.

    The Cocoonababy has been designed to simulate the feeling your baby experiences in the womb thanks to the enveloping shape of the nest that has your baby laying in a semi-foetal position which promotes DEEP sleep. A great thing for mum’s lacking sleep!

    What I love most about this mattress is the slightly inclined position that helps to prevent and relieve the symptoms of gastric reflux and colic. This can be really taxing on your energy levels if you are spending a long time settling baby after a feed – by the time you have fed, burped and settled, it can almost be time for another feed! Not anymore.

    There is a wedge which can be repositioned up and down as baby grows and then removed when no longer necessary. I use the velcro fastenings to keep baby secure on the mattress and then have this placed inside my Troll bassinet. You can also keep the Cocoonababy in your preferred cot or bassinet.

    What I love about this nappy bin, is the fact there are no bags. You can use ANY bag with this disposal system, saving you money on refills and enabling you to find another purpose for the plastic bags piling up at home.

    Here’s the thing: I don’t wash my face with a cleanser anymore. I mean yes, I use water on it daily if I’m wearing foundation or makeup. But soap or facial cleansers? No way.

    Read on to find out why the BEST beauty trick is NOT washing your face.

    1. Over washing your face can cause more breakouts

    To be honest, I’ve always believed that over cleansing the skin was a bad idea. This is mainly because you can do more damage by trying to scrub your face clean with harsh cleansers and soaps. The result is more breakouts for your skin and less confidence.

    2. Cleansers may contain harmful chemical ingredients

    To this day, I still avoid most cleansers as many contain harsh foaming agents like Sodium Laureth Sulfate and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. Not only are these ingredients toxic for the skin, but they can also result in dryness and skin irritation.

    3. Rinsing results in a clearer complexion

    The good news is, there is growing evidence that women say their complexions are clearer when they simply rinse instead of cleanse. This is most likely because we are trained to over-wash our skin and strip it of precious natural oils that form a protective barrier. The solution: throw out your chemical based cleanser and your skin will love you for it!

    4. Over washing your face can make your skin more oily

    That’s right. Sounds odd doesn’t it? Truth be told, over cleansing your skin can have the reverse effect on oil production. Harshly stripping the natural oils from your skin can cause an imbalance. After harsh soaps strip all the precious oils, the skins response is to over compensate and create MORE oil. The result – oilier skin and more breakouts.

    5. Over washing your face can result in premature ageing

    Oil helps to keep our skin nourished and protected. It makes sense that if you remove all of the skins natural oils, you would be more likely to be prone to premature ageing right? It can also disrupt the skin’s delicate barrier causing accelerated skin ageing.

    The solution: a magical face cloth

    That’s where the magical face cloth comes in. Simply wet, wring out and this magical face cloth will remove all traces of dirt, impurities and makeup – without the need for any cleanser!

    That’s right. You don’t need to use any facial cleanser, facial wipe or makeup remover to remove all traces of makeup. This magical cloth does all the work for you.

    When you’re finished, simply wash in the hand basin and hang out to dry. Every few days, you can pop into the washing machine to keep it super fresh. The best news – it lasts for over 200 washes!

    To be honest, I was SUPER skeptical about this particular product as it claimed to be able to remove makeup with no product at all. After using the cloth a few times, I couldn’t believe it had the power to remove all traces of makeup without any product. Let’s just say, I haven’t stopped using it since.

    The best part is, it’s machine washable so you can use it over and over again. PLUS, it’s environmentally friendly and you won’t be throwing out packets of makeup remover wipes AND you get a deeper clean.

    This is one of the most powerful techniques I will ever teach you. The power of your own mind. What if I told you that the thoughts you think, actually shape your life for better for your worse? What if I told you that you clear your skin by changing the way you think?

    For some of you, this may seem crazy. For others, you would have heard of positive affirmations before and how they can change your life for the better. This is not some voodoo technique that has never been used before, affirmations have actually been used for years and have been known to be VERY effective.

    So how do affirmations work and how can you use them to clear your skin and change your life for the better?

    Stop The Negative Self Talk

    That’s right. I’m talking about that little voice inside your head that tells you that you’re not good enough, that you’re too fat to wear that and that you can’t leave the house without makeup. I want you to take note of how many times a day you are entertaining negative self-talk, then I want you to replace each of those thoughts with a new, positive thought. I can guarantee you that the amount of times a day that you notice negative self-talk, will blow you away! After around three weeks, this process will begin to be a habit.

    Learn To Love Yourself

    When was the last time you did something nice for yourself? There an abundance of nice things you can do to yourself but we are often so busy looking after others that we forget to look after ourselves. Run yourself a bath, nourish your body lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, drink more water, pay yourself a compliment. This is about learning to love yourself again, before and after having acne regardless of what your skin or your body looks like. Ultimately, you are still the same person inside regardless of what your exterior looks like. Don’t wait until you’ve lost that weight, got that job or cleared your skin to love yourself. Love yourself as you are, right now.

    Practice Affirmations Everyday

    Affirmations are not something that you can say once and your life will miraculously change over night. Like all things, practice makes perfect and affirmations are exactly the same. It’s best to allow 20 minutes per day to practice saying your affirmations for best results. You can achieve even better results in a shorter time frame if you practice in front of a mirror. I know it seems ridiculous, but by saying your affirmations in front of a mirror, you are making them 10x more powerful! It’s important to look into your eyes and say them with true belief in present tense. This is not a time to say “I will have clear skin and a healthy body”, this is a time to say “I have clear skin and a healthy body.” By saying affirmations in a PRESENT tense you are affirming these statements are true and correct. I believe that 30 days of affirmations will change your life, but you’ll see the true benefit by practicing every day for the rest of your life. Every day, you will feel happier and healthier.

    Here are some examples of positive affirmations:

    • I love and approve of myself
    • I am in perfect health
    • I stand up for myself
    • I am ready to enjoy perfect health
    • I eat foods that are healthy and whole
    • I drink lots of water every day
    • I exercise regularly to keep myself fit and energetic
    • I love my body more and more every day
    • I am happy with my appearance

    The most important thing to remember with affirmations is that you must practice them often. I’ve seen clients use them, practice every day and really make some great changes in their lives. Once they reap the benefits, they stop practicing and sooner or later fall victim to the same old ways of thinking.

    Practice your affirmations every single day. If you miss a day, that doesn’t matter just pick up where you left off whenever you remember.

    • 2 carrots, boiled and mashed
    • 1 tsp lemon juice
    • 2 tbsp honey
    • 1 tsp olive or coconut oil


    1. Combine all ingredients together in a small mixing bowl until it’s a smooth consistency.
    2. Apply to clean, damp skin and leave for 30 minutes.
    3. Rinse well with lukewarm water.
