    Can’t sleep? I hear you. This year has been shocking for my sleep. I felt like no matter how much sleep I had, I never felt refreshed in the morning. 😭 It’s interesting because as parents, we often have a sleep routine for our babies to get theme into a good routine, yet a lot of us (myself included) can be a bit relaxed when it comes to a bedtime routine for ourselves. 😴

    ☁️ Here are my top tips for a sleep routine that works! ☁️

    👉 Invest in good quality pillows & bed linen. The key to a relaxing sleep is in the quality of your pillow and linen. We’ve been using the new Adairs bamboo pillow and linen range and I’ve never had a better nights sleep. They are soft, breathable and hypoallergenic – need I say more?

    👉 Read instead of scrolling social media or the news. Choose a book to read instead of scrolling on your phone. Your brain is much more likely to feel sleepy instead of wired if you swap your phone for a good book!

    👉 Write down worries and reminders for the next day. Before you go to bed, make sure you write down your worries and reminders for the next day. It’s one less thing you have to think and worry about overnight so you can relax easier.

    👉 Write three things in a gratitude journal. Keep a gratitude journal next to your bed and make it a ritual to write down three things you are grateful for every day. Gratitude is the best way to attract more positivity in your life.

    👉 Use lavender essential oil. Pop a few drops of lavender essential oil in a humidifier and keep next to your bed overnight for a better nights sleep. Lavender is my go-to oil for dream time and a relaxing bath!

    Organising your life if you’re a mum is quite challenging. Whether you’re a stay-at-home or working full time, your responsibilities are often the same.

    As a mum, you have to ensure your kids are healthy and safe. You have to feed them, bathe them, and get them ready for school every day. After that, you have to face the household chores waiting for you, from picking up toys to doing the dishes and laundry. And on top of that, you have to worry about not being late to work or a meeting. 

    But it doesn’t stop there. You also have to do some grocery shopping on the side and make dinner. The list seems never-ending! And it’s enough to overwhelm anyone just thinking about every little thing you need to accomplish in a day. 

    Any minute mums don’t spend with their kids is gold as this is the time you can maximise their time at home. This is also one of the factors for staying organised. Besides, you’ll simply waste your time if you spend it being disorganised.

    So how do you stay organised if you’re a working mum?

    1. It’s time to start creating a solid routine

    Yes, we all have daily routines. But they need to be solid so that you can easily run your life. You need to ensure that it involves activities and tasks performed the same way every day. Pick a time of the day where you’re the most confident you can accomplish more.

    For example, if you feel like mornings in your home are unpredictable, and you more control at night, then opt for an evening routine. You can pack your children’s school bags, fold clothes, do the dishes and laundry, decide on the family’s breakfast, and so on. The more chores you can do, the easier your morning will go. Keep in mind that the number one enemy of organisation is not having a firm routine set in place.

    1. Write everything down

    We have so many things going through our minds that it’s simple to forget the itty bitty things. Don’t worry, that’s normal, you’re a mum! You don’t have to memorise or try to remember everything as this will not help you stay organised. 

    It’s been proven that you can remember things better if you write them down. You can simply use a pen and paper or download my free printable planners. It’s the easiest way to become organised, remember the tasks you need to do, and accomplish your goals without feeling overwhelmed.

    1. Get yourself ready first

    Getting everyone ready ahead of you is what we’re all accustomed to. However, this will not serve you, and let’s face it, mornings with kids are unpredictable. Fortunately, you’re not.

    So wake up early, take a refreshing shower, dress up, and get your morning caffeine fix and eat before everyone. So even if your toddler makes a mess or two, you’ll have more time on your hands to clean it, instead of worrying that you’ll be late for work.

    1. Clean as you go

    You can stay on top of organising and keeping things clean in your home is to clean before you go. As a busy mum, you may not have a particular day of the month or week to do stuff even if you love cleaning. Instead, consider doing a few tasks every day. 

    You can fold towels and clothes while your little one takes a bath. While your kids are playing, you can also vacuum a room or wipe down light switches and handrails. There are ways to keep your home spotless without the need to spend precious hours on your hands and knees cleaning over the weekend. 

    1. Make decluttering a part of your life

    You can maximise organisation by decluttering often. Write it down on your calendar or planner and set a day for it. You can also declutter regularly at a specific time. It’s something that will not stick with you if you don’t do it frequently. It’s like showering. It has to have a place in your routine and life. 

    1. Learn to say no

    One common thing that every organised mums have in common is that they know when to say yes or no. But enthusiastically, of course. Saying no to stuff that has no clear purpose will not make you a bad mother. So, make sure to say yes to things that will serve you.

    1. Learn to accept help and delegate

    Let’s admit it, we love being saints! I’m sure you often see yourself not taking up the help offered by someone. We’re all guilty of thinking that we’re the only ones who know how to do a certain task. And it’s a habit that you need to kick out of your system.

    Being a very organised mum means you know that it’s okay to accept help when it is offered to you and delegate work to others. Give your children things to do, as it’ll teach them valuable things in life. Go ahead and say yes to your mum when she wants to babysit your little ones. Allow yourself not to take care of everything.

    1. Forget about technology for a while

    Leave your work at the office. Do not bring it home with you. Consider turning off your email notifications if needed if you have a habit of checking it constantly. Keep important ones such as SMS, phone calls, voicemails, and so on. And if you have numerous apps on your smartphone, turn their notifications off to keep you from getting distracted. 

    You want to be as intentional about the time you’ll spend over the weekend so that you’ll be fresh and ready on Monday. I know this will be challenging, but if you want to be more productive if you don’t have phone distracting and interrupting you with alerts throughout the day.

    Remember that if you truly want to organise your life and home, there’s no better time to start than today. It will not come naturally for all of us, so push yourself. If you have time today, do it instead of telling yourself that you’ll have plenty of time tomorrow or on some other day.

    • Google Drive – my favourite online storage system because it’s so simple and easy to use!
    • Creative Market – buy creative templates including website themes, Canva templates, logos and more from this awesome online creative market!
    • Outlook app – I do love Outlook for my work emails and this app allows you to view your calendar and emails all in one easy place.
    • Gmail app – I do love Gmail for my personal emails and the app is super user friendly.
    • Google Analytics – I LOVE analytics so it’s no secret that I like to have Google
      Analytics on stand-by. Very easy to use from the app and tells you great info about your website/blog traffic!
    • Mail Chimp – I’m currently running MailChimp and this app makes thing super easy to check and load campaigns from your phone.
    • Daily Planner – I’m a HUGE list fan so you can check out the daily to do list I created which has work & personal tasks on the same page.

    10 Reasons You Haven’t Achieved Your Goals


    Are you struggling to achieve your goals? Do you know you want to achieve something but you’re not sure where to start? Or do you struggle staying motivated when on your path to achieving a goal?

    Here are the top ten reasons why you may not be achieving your goals yet:

    1. Your goals aren’t specific enough

    If you don’t have clearly defined goals, you procrastinate. Sound familiar?

    SMART goals are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time based. You need something that is not too general. For example, “get healthy.” You need to get specific around the details of your goal to ensure it is a clear, concise goal that you can set your sights on.

    It’s important that you are as specific as possible when setting goals, otherwise you won’t have enough direction to follow through. A good way of knowing whether they are specific enough is to ask yourself “if someone else read this goal, could they clearly define it?”

    2. You have no way of measuring your goals

    It is much harder to recognise where you are at with reaching your goal if you have no way of measuring it. Tracking the progress of your goals is an important step to staying motivated. It allows you to set smaller milestone to achieve so you can celebrate when you meet them and re-evaluate if you don’t.

    It’s best to assign a measurable unit to each of your goals:

    • money
    • scale of 1-10
    • frequency (number of times you do something)
    • volume (number of things you do)

    For example: if you goal is to spend more time with your family every month. The goal needs to be defined before it can be assigned a measurable unit. If you define the success as spending one date night per fortnight with your significant other, and one family date with your significant other and kids per week then that would be your means of measuring the goal.

    3. You make your goals unattainable

     If a goal is so unattainable and you feel it’s impossible to reach – you will simply give up. It’s so important to set goals that are challenging enough, yet not so challenging that you don’t even try.

    For example, if your goal is “to lift 100kg weights in the gym in 7 days” when you have never worked out before – this is not setting you up for success. In order to work your way up to achieving this goal, you will need to set smaller milestones to train your body to be strong enough to lift this amount.

    Consistency is everything. If you reach your goal in three months but your system is unsustainable for the long term, you could backslide and end up right where you started.

    4. You only list your long-term goals

    When we only focus on long-term goals, it’s easy to let the motivation fizzle out because we are stuck on the larger view. If we list out all of the short-term goals required to achieve the longer-term goal, we will have more success.

    When we break down long-term goals into smaller weekly or daily goals – this makes them easier to focus on. Consider the smaller goals, the stepping-stones to achieve the longer-term goals.

    5. You don’t write your goals down

    According to studies on goal setting, people who write their goals down are more likely to achieve it than those who don’t.

    The more vividly you can write down your goal the better. For example, you should be able to have someone read through your goals and clearly understand exactly what they are.

    When you write down your goals, two amazing things happen. The first is, you store the information on a piece of paper that is easy to access at any time. You can place that piece of paper on the fridge or in your office so you will have a visual cue every day.

    The second is, you encode information in your memory. When you write, you improve the encoding process. In other words, if you write your goal down then it has a much greater chance of being remembered.

    6. Your day to day environment doesn’t support your goals

     The secret of your future is hidden in your daily routine. If one of your goals are centred around becoming healthier and your kitchen is full of chocolate, sweets and ice-cream – how challenging do you think it will be to achieve your goal?

    Set yourself up for success in your day to day environment and ensure you are doing things today that your future self will thank you for.

    You may want to change your day to day environment to remove temptations, clear clutter so you can become more focused or remove the TV from your room so you can achieve your goal of getting better quality sleep.

    7. You get stuck on the end result with your goals

    It’s very easy to get stuck on the end result with your goals and forget that there is always a journey to get there. Enjoy the process of achieving your goals.

    It’s really important to break any larger or long-term goals into smaller short-term goals so you can celebrate the achievement of milestones along the way.

    Rome wasn’t built in a day and it’s important to remember that everyone is on their own unique journey – including you.

    Consistency is key here, and those who are more consistent day in and day out will achieve their goals faster than someone who is super dedicated but only in short bursts.

    8. You get discouraged when you go off track

    It’s important to be kind to yourself when you go off track and not allow your inner-voice to let you give up on the goal altogether. It’s normal to go off track sometimes and have ‘bad days.’

    The main thing is to not let those bad days turn into bad months and bad years! When you go off track and are feeling discouraged, go and re-read your goals again. Write down WHY the goal is important to you and how you will FEEL when you achieve it.

    This will help to reignite your passion and determination to achieve the goal.

    9. You don’t celebrate your wins

    Whether you are setting goals for business or personal; it’s so important to celebrate your wins. When you celebrate, endorphins are released inside your body and you feel amazing.

    A large part of your success is your state of mind – having a success mindset will help to fast-track achieving your goals. Focus on celebrating every win, no matter how small. This will help to attract more positivity and continually motivate you to achieve your goals.

    TIP: Remember you can always share your wins publicly! Your small win may inspire someone else around you to keep going and moving towards achieving their goals too.

    10. You don’t have an accountability partner

    According to research, the two main drivers that effectively help people achieve desirable behaviour changes are incentives and accountability. Achieving anything in life takes practice and changing daily habits

    When you tell yourself and no one else that you will start your business, start a new gym routine, write a book or save $5000 – you are less likely to do it. The American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) completed a study on accountability. and found that you have a 65% chance of completing a goal if you commit to someone.

    Once you have a specific accountability appointment with a person you’ve committed, you will increase your change of success by up to 95%.

    You can make a commitment to someone today to ensure you achieve your goals. Your accountability partner could be someone trying to achieve a goal of their own OR your spouse, reliable friend or work colleague. Who can you share your goals with today?

    5-Minute Mom Friendly Makeup Routine 

    Learn the secret to achieving a flawless natural makeup look in 5 minutes or less! I share my top tips and tricks for your most glowing complexion yet using my favourite products.

    One of the most common questions I get asked is about my 5-minute makeup routine. This is my daily makeup routine that can be completed in 5 minutes and is actually good for your skin!

    I choose natural and eco-friendly products that deliver high-performance results. After suffering with acne for years and years, I finally learnt how to use makeup that was good for my skin but still gave me the coverage I wanted.

    The best thing about mineral powder foundation is it is sweat-proof and lasts all day long. This is a must-have for anyone who is leading a busy lifestyle or is a mom!

    Here are the exact steps I take to do my makeup in 5-minutes or less!

    Step 1: Apply mineral powder foundation

    I’ve literally tried countless foundations over the years. Everything from drug store to department store and everything in between.

    If there’s one thing I’ve learnt about skin, particularly acne-prone skin – it’s that it LOVES a powder foundation over a liquid foundation.

    When cosmetic companies make a liquid foundation, they are forced to add preservatives into the product as it contains water. The beauty of a powder is – there’s no liquid which means no preservatives and no expiry dates!

    Using an earth mineral on your skin is the best thing for it, and it also contains a low SPF protection to shield you from free-radical damage.

    How to apply it:

    The best way to apply a mineral powder foundation is to tap some product into the lid of the foundation jar and swirl your kabuki brush into it.

    Tap off the excess powder on the side of your lid and then gently apply to your face in a circular buffing motion. Repeat until your entire face has been coated in the powder.

    A good quality powder foundation will give you medium-high coverage as you build the product up on your skin and will look flawlessly airbrushed.

    Time: 2 minutes

    Step 2: Contour your cheeks using bronzer

    Contouring your cheeks with bronzer is the key to a finished natural makeup look. I use a bronzer brush to swirl a small amount of product and gently swish the brush on my wrist to get rid of any excess.

    It’s important to do this so you don’t apply too much bronzer to your face and create a ‘muddy’ look. Once you have tapped off the excess, suck in your cheeks and gently use the brush to sweep under your cheekbones.

    You can also repeat the process and sweep the brush around your hairline and down either side of your nose to contour.

    TIP: Bronzer is my go-to makeup product when I’m opting for a natural look. I just use my kabuki brush to apply a small amount of product to my face all over and buff in. This gives a super sun-kissed look that’s perfect for during the day!

    Time: 1 minute

    Step 3: Define your eyebrows

    HOT TIP – if you have never tinted your brows before, I highly recommend doing this. It gives you a really nice defined look and will help with cutting down your makeup routine as it gives you a better outline of your brows.

    The first thing I do is use a slightly damp cotton tip to remove any powder foundation from my brows. I then take a spoolie and brush my brows to get them into position before I apply the product.

    I’ve tried pencils, crayons, pomade’s and more over the years but I keep coming back to this brow cushion with inbuilt spoolie and application brush.

    Simply press the brush end into the cushion gently and fill in the brow with gentle strokes upwards. You can line the edges with the darker shade and the fill in with the lighter shade to give a feather brow effect.

    TIP: Avoid applying moisturiser to your eyebrows as it will stop your makeup being long-lasting.

    Time: 1 minute

    Step 4: Apply mascara for long lashes

    Not everyone is born with long lashes, but thankfully there are lots of good products out there to make them look long and luscious.

    I’ll be honest, finding a good mascara is like finding a needle in a haystack. It’s also very much a personal preference thing.

    Personally – I LOVE long and defined lashes as opposed to thick and dramatic. The key to applying mascara properly is to start at the base of your lashes closer to your eyelid and gently zig-zag the brush through lashes to the end.

    This technique builds thickness and helps the mascara wand to define your lashes.

    TIP: Don’t pump the mascara wand in and out of the container as this pumps air into the product and will dry it out faster.

    Time: 1 minute

    Remember that a good skincare routine is the key to flawless looking makeup. If you get your base right, then the rest of your makeup will look glowing.

    Think Positive: 11 Ways to Boost Positive Thinking

    Once you truly learn to harness the power of positivity, it has an amazing impact on your life.

    Each of us have a set of messages that we play over and over in our minds. Our internal dialogue plays a part in our overall happiness, the decisions we make and how we view the world. Thinking positive takes practice and once you learn to focus on the good; you keep attracting more of it.

    So how do we begin to change our mindset to be more positive? These eleven positive thinking exercises will help to boost positive thinking and attract more positivity in your life.

    1. Write in a gratitude journal everyday

    Before you go to sleep each night, write in a gratitude journal the three things you are thankful for that day. By reinforcing what you are thankful for, you attract more positivity. Set an alarm on your phone to remind you to practice this before sleep at the same time every day.

    2. Replace negative words with positive words

    This takes practice, so the more you can use positive words instead of negative words – the easier this will be! For example, you can swap “issues” or “problems” for “challenges.” This is a more positive way of saying something negative. There are a few words you should remove from your vocabulary that are dis-empowering; try, can’t, hate.

    3. Surround yourself with positive people

    Positivity attracts positivity. If you’re tired of feeling weighed down by the negative people who are around you, it’s time to start attracting positive people into your life! They say you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. How true is this for you?

    4. Say thank you to everyone for everything

    The smallest thank you is always worth more than the effort it takes to give it. By being thankful for what you have, you’ll end up having more. This is a simple one to practice every day. How many times are you not saying thank you when you could?

    5. Appreciate what you already have right now

    Don’t wait for the perfect body, job or bank balance to appreciate what you have. Love yourself now; exactly as you are. If we are constantly on the hunt for the next thing to make us happy or love ourselves, we would never be happy! Appreciate what you have right now and love yourself in this very moment.

    6. Practice being present in every moment

    This is one of the most beneficial practices but also takes time to perfect. Mindfulness is definitely a buzzword at the moment. What it actually means is to practice living in this very moment and not thinking about the past nor the present. This allows you to be completely at peace and content with where you are that very moment.

    7. Carry yourself with positive posture

    When you see someone who is down, sad or upset – what does their posture look like? When you see someone who is happy, upbeat and joyful – what does their posture look like? By carrying yourself with positive posture, standing up tall with your head up, you are immediately lifting your vibration and energy to be more positive.

    8. Smile and laugh often!

    This one is free and is such a good one to practice! SMILE and laugh often! The very act of smiling allows us to be happier. Smiling and laughing are powerful yet simple ways to remained balanced every day. When we smile and laugh, we support our physical, mental and emotional health.

    9. Do something kind every day

    Take time to do something kind every single day. This may be something as simple as opening a door for someone, smiling at them or saying hello! It’s amazing how much joy we can get from doing something kind for someone every day. It could be someone you know or a complete stranger.

    10. Write a thank you message to someone in your network daily

    This one is one of my favourites. Write a note to someone in your network daily. It could be a friend that you are super thankful for, a colleague who has really supported you at work that week or a family member that has helped you with the kids. Don’t wait for a specific reason – just remind people in your life that mean the world to you, that you are super thankful for their friendship.

    11. Start the day with positive affirmations

    You can literally speak things into existence. That means you can speak positive things into existence too! Start your day with saying 5 minutes of positive affirmations like:

    • I am worth the money
    • I have the power to create change
