5 DIY Makeup Tips For Glowing Skin
Ever wondered how celebrities manage to look flawless at every red carpet appearance? The key is an effective beauty routine and simple makeup tricks to bring out your natural glow and make you look radiant all year round.

Glowing skin is one of the best beauty assets anyone can have. It can make you look healthy, radiant, polished and more attractive – so it’s very important to look after your skin.

There are techniques you can use to hide blemishes, dark circles, even skin tone and highlight your best features. Try these top five makeup tricks for glowing skin all year round:

Step 1: Prep skin with a primer

This is one makeup tip all celebrity makeup artists believe in. A primer is a product to use on you skin before any other makeup is applied. It should be applied after cleansing to freshly moisturised skin. Some primers have a moisturiser already included in them so just check the instructions on the packaging.

Using a primer helps to prepare the skin for your foundation and allow your makeup to be applied even – creating the perfect base for makeup. Without a primer, your makeup can ‘grab’ and become patchy and uneven. It’s important to always use your primer on a cleansed, moisturised face underneath your foundation.

Step 2: Use a skin illuminator

When used correctly, skin illuminators can be your best friend. Illuminators help to reflect light onto the skin making your skin look radiant and youthful. Simply mix one part illuminator to two parts foundation and blend onto your face.

You can also purchase illuminators with an in-built bronzer to give you that all over sun-kissed glow! I like the idea of doing this because it saves me worrying about appearing too light – especially during the cooler months.

You’ll be left with a dewy, luminous complexion all day long – just remember to lightly dust with a translucent powder before you move to your next step.

Step 3: Contour with a powdered face bronzer

Looking for a sun kissed glow? Now that your skin has a flawless base and you’ve finished applying your foundation or base coverage, you can use a powdered face bronzer to give your face some dimension.

Simply take a powder, blush or contouring brush, gently swipe over your powdered bronzer palette. Tap your brush to remove any excess bronzer and use brush to gently apply it to cheekbones, bridge of nose, jawline and chin. Bronzer helps to highlight these points and contour your face creating depth, while using a highlighter will bring things forward.

You can even use a “Bronzing & Highlighting face powder duo” which has both products in one palette. One swipe of this product on the cheeks instantly contours and highlights exactly where needed.

Step 4: Use a liquid or cream based highlighter

For some extra oomph and to give the illusion of higher cheekbones, larger lips and brighter eyes, use a liquid or cream based highlighters.

Apply a small amount of highlighter to your finger and gently pat points of your face including cheek bones, corners of your eyes, bridge of your nose and cupids bow.

This will give your face a gorgeous glow and help to highlight your natural bone structure. Remember, less is more – so go easy and build your way up. This is not body glitter and you can easily go overboard.

5. Use a clear gloss

This is a simple yet very effective makeup tip for glowing skin. Simply dab a little clear lip gloss under your brow bones, cupids bow of your lip or any other feature of your face you wish to highlight.

Appy it over foundation or blush and gently work around with your finger to give your face a radiant glow. Voila!
